Bisevo, isle south-west of the island of Vis features the 11th-century Church of St Sylvester (Crkva svetog Silvestra) and the ruins of the Benedictine abbey whose brothers, because of the danger of pirates, moved to Komiza on Vis in the 13th century. The island is known for its Blue Grotto (Modra Spilja) discovered in 1883. Popular as a day trip destination from Vis as well as from Split and Hvar.
