Dubrovnik to Hvar catamaran or ferry

I would like to travel from Dubrovnik to Hvar by ferry but i'm not sure if catamaran is actually ferry because I was reading on forums people mention catamaran I guess this is also public ferry. Is ferry and catamaran same thing, same boat, same schedules?

Yes, catamaran is actually ferry, same thing, same boat, same schedules. There are only 2 ferry lines from Dubrovnik to Hvar and both are run by catamaran ferries.
