MarkusGuestI am trying to make my way from Hvar Town to Bol on Brac island.
I am not so sure there is even a ferry that goes from Hvar to Brac
Other sites I searched on said I would have to go to Split and then Brac?
Any advice or help is appreciated
AnaParticipantHi Markus,
Check Hvar Island ferries page :
https://www.croatiaferries.com/hvar-island-ferries.htm
and
Brac Island Ferries page:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/brac-island-ferries.htm
for all ferries available ( btw – yes, there are ferries from Hvar island to Brac island)
AnitaGuestMy plan is to go from Hvar town to Bol on Brac island for a day trip. I am trying to work out what is the best way to travel there by public transport but find it difficult to find the best solution. I will be visiting Croatia in April this year. Any suggestion is much appreciated.
Ana3GuestHi Anita, well, the trouble is April – if you are there from June to September, there would be a couple of easy options, but for April this may be a good solution:
Catamaran Jelsa to Bol: https://www.croatiaferries.com/jelsa-bol-ferry.htm
- 20-minute crossing, all-year-round service. Early morning departures (6 am) are obviously a disadvantage. If you can fit your itinerary for Sundays when the ferry departs at 1 pm, that would be perfect 😉
- spend a day in Bol and get back to Jelsa in the afternoon: https://www.croatiaferries.com/bol-jelsa-ferry.htm
Even if you get there on Sunday, you will be there at 1:20 pm and you have 4 hours to explore Bol.
Now, getting to Jelsa for early morning departure is trouble as the distance between Jelsa and Hvar Town is 29 km which is about a 35-minute bus ride and the earlier bus from Hvar town leaves at 08:20.
The only option is to get a taxi or overnight in Jelsa to be ready for early morning departure.
That is why Sunday is the most viable option although you will get only 4 hours to explore Bol.
But then, perhaps, visiting Jelsa for a day, exploring, and taking the following morning ferry to Bol can also be a very nice detour.
Btw – although it is early morning crossing, the seats are comfortable and easy to relax in (as in this photo):

AnitaGuestthis sounds perfect! thank you for the suggestion 🙂 I can not fit it for Sundays, but will go for a solution to overnight in Jelsa, it seems a lovely little village <3
