Liberty Lines, the Italian ferry operator has launched the 39.5 meter, 251 passenger Vittorio Morace, the world’s first hybrid fast ferry in its category and size.

Built by Spanish shipyard Astilleros Armon (https://www.astillerosarmon.com/) and designed by Incat Crowther, it is powered by an MTU hybrid propulsion system from Rolls-Royce and has a speed of over 30 knots. It has been classified as a “Green Plus” ship by classification society RINA.

Here is the presentation of the vessel:

it is an amazing vessel, named after the founder of Liberty Lines, it is the first of a series of new high-speed ferries that will operate around Sicily as well as between the Trieste @  Italian mainland and Croatia & Slovenia. Here is how it looks:

wow! i hope it will come to do Triste to Istria routes soon https://www.croatiaferries.com/trieste-ferry-port.htm

but most probably next or even in 2-3 years time. i guess the route is not so busy and if they ordered more ferries, we would need to wait a bit longer. but anyhow, looks really promising. i am so excited 🙂
