    Our plans are to be on Brac form Sept 3-4. Then we would like to spend the evening of Sept 4 on Mljet before continuing on to Dubrovnik. We are willing to take a couple of ferries to get to Mljet, but I’m having a lot of difficulty in figuring out how to do this. Can we go through Hvar?

    What if we went back to Split first?

    back to Split and then take:
    1/ bus to Dubrovnik and ferry to Mljet, or
    2/ bus to Ston, taxi to Prapratno and ferry to Mljet or
    3/ ferry to Korcula and fast boat to Mljet
    …

    Thanks Mate!  The 3rd option sounds great.  Couple follow-up questions.

    First, where can I find the information for fast boats?  Is there a timetable?

    Second, we are now thinking about renting a car, which might simplify everything.  Can you only take cars on ferries from Jadrolinija or are there other types of boats?

    Just looking at Google Maps to see the best way to get from Brac/Split to Mljet and it is suggesting that I take the Suartin-Makarska ferry back to mainland, the Ploce-Trpanj ferry, and one other ferry that I can’t find anywhere. 

    I appears that the departure port is Trstenik (into Polace).  Any idea what company runs this ferry?

    Google has outdated info.

    Prapratno is the only car ferry port for Mljet island.
