- in reply to: Hvar to Rovinj Ferry route assistance #2834
AnaParticipantI am looking at routes to get from Hvar to Rovinj in July.Do you have the times for Ferry Route 101 released? Any suggested alternative options to get to from the south to the north would be appreciated.
Ferry route 101 is now discontinued and it is very unlikely it will be introduced again.
Hvar to Rovinj ferry & bus travel options are:
- Hvar to Split by fast ferry (1 hour) https://www.croatiaferries.com/hvar-split-ferry.htm
- Split to Zadar bus (3 hours)
- Zadar to Pula ferry (4.5 hours) https://www.croatiaferries.com/zadar-pula-ferry.htm
- Pula to Rovinj bus (1 hour)
The total time involved should be at least 9 hours. Important thing is to make sure you arrive in Zadar before 16:00 to get on the ferry to Pula. You will be in Pula around 20:30. If you can’t get a bus to Rovinj, get a taxi.
The alternative is to take a ferry to Split and then a bus from Split to Rijeka and another bus from Rijeka to Rovinj. This option is also a very long one, I guess you are better off using ferry from Zadar to Pula.
Here is a directions map that shows the ferry and bus journeys (ignore timings, this is walking map):
in reply to: Brac to Lastovo – The fastest way to travel #9858
AnaParticipantThe fastest way to travel from Brac to Lastovo is by taking two ferries:
Step 1: > the fast ferry from Milna to Hvar, 30 minutes ferry ride
https://www.croatiaferries.com/milna-hvar-ferry.htmStep 2: > the fast ferry from Hvar to Lastovo, Ubli, 2 hours ferry ride
https://www.croatiaferries.com/hvar-ubli-ferry.htmIf you go via Split, the travel time is longer:
50 minutes Supetar to Split + 3 hours Split to Lastovo (Ubli)Here is a map Brač to Lastovo Island >> https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=199b-peyCXUWTdKiXR0LEZDdW6Uny-QQZ
For actual travel times, check out our timetables.
AnaParticipantEli, yes, Pile Gate is a good place to get a taxi or Uber pick up to port Gruz https://www.croatiaferries.com/dubrovnik-ferry-port.htm to get on any ferry to or from Dubrovnik.
Get Uber or if you need, the list of taxi numbers is here:

Have a nice holiday 🙂
in reply to: Rovinj to Dubrovnik Ferry (Istria to Dubrovnik) #9842
AnaParticipantKnot, there is no direct ferry service between Rovinj to Dubrovnik.
The nearest/best transport option is:
Step 1: Rovinj to Pula by bus
Step 2: Pula to Zadar ferry: https://www.croatiaferries.com/pula-zadar-ferry.htm
Step 3: bus Zadar to Split: https://croatiaspots.com/zadar-split/ and then
Step 4: ferry from Split to Dubrovnik: https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-dubrovnik-ferry.htm
AnaParticipantVinc, get in touch with local Jadrolinija office in Supetar, Brac.

ag.supetar@jadrolinija.hrin reply to: Cres island by Bicycle on Car ferry #9833
AnaParticipant- Yes, you can take bicycles on the roof of your car on the local car ferry – here is a topic with more details: https://www.croatiaferries.com/topic/bicycles-on-the-car-car-ferries-in-croatia/
- Perhaps Valbiska to Merag ferry is the most suitable option for you. Here is a map:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/maps/north-adriatic-local-ferry-map/
So, drive from Plitvice Lakes to Krk Island (riding across the bridge – no ferry needed) and take a car ferry from Valbiska to Merag on Cres Island https://www.croatiaferries.com/valbiska-merag-ferry.htm
AnaParticipantyes you will.
if you have a ticket you get on ferry if ferry is not cancelled due to the bad weather.
dubrovnik to split ferries are all just for foot passengers, no cars so ferry ticket guarantee you space on the specific ferry you booked.
AnaParticipantLisa,
Buy your ticket now for the date you need:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/dubrovnik-split-ferry.htm
The only risk is bad weather, but you will know at least a day or two in advance detailed weather forecast so you will check with the ferry company is everything ok with the following day’s departure.
The alternative transport is Dubrovnik to Split by bus, which you can always get if ferries are canceled due to the bad weather.
I hope this helps.
in reply to: From Rab to Mali Lošinj by ferry or bus #9821
AnaParticipantSimon,
perhaps you can consider this option too:
morning to Rijeka
https://www.croatiaferries.com/rab-rijeka-ferry.htm
afternoon to Mali Losinj:
AnaParticipantJenny, if you are traveling as a foot passenger on a fast ferry from Split to Dubrovnik you will not pass through Bosnia/Herzegovina border at any stage.
Here are the details: https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-dubrovnik-ferry.htm
However, if you are traveling by car, at the present, you will drive through Bosnia/Herzegovina at Klek-Neum border crossing/s.
If you wish to avoid crossing the border, you can:
- take a ferry from Ploce to Trpanj or
- cross Peljesac Bridge (the bridge is opened in 2022)
Here is a map with both directions :

AnaParticipantSinead, the 5 am ferry crossing from Split to Stari Grad on Hvar islands starts on 03.06.
On 02.06 that ferry crossing is at 6 am, an hour later.
I hope this will also be ok for your travel plans.in reply to: Ferry Porec to Venice ticket booking #9793
AnaParticipantShery, if you click on orange booking button here:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/porec-venice-ferry.htm
to book a ferry, it will lead you to the booking panel where you fill up all passenger details including details about bicycle.
please, do two separate bookings as only one bicycle per booking is allowed.
in reply to: To Hvar by ferry from Brač day trip #9780
AnaParticipantYes, you can do Milna (Brac island) to Hvar (Hvar island):
https://www.croatiaferries.com/milna-hvar-ferry.htm
in the morning and come back in the afternoon:
AnaParticipantAlison, I just checked at Jadrolinija site and they dont offer bicycle booking on this line:
RAB 16:55 > NOVALJA (Pag)> 17:40 (Catamaran KAROLINA)
Pack your bike in the bag instead.
AnaParticipantI am interested in travelling from either Rovinj, Rijeka, or Pula to Hvar, Split, or Stari Grad on May 21st.
Are any ferries available at these times?Update 2023:
No direct ferries are available for these routes.
The alternative is to take
- a ferry from Pula to Zadar – >> https://www.croatiaferries.com/pula-zadar-ferry.htm
- a ferry or bus from Rijeka to Zadar – click the orange button on this link >> https://www.croatiaferries.com/rijeka-zadar-ferry.htm
From Zadar to Split take a bus or private transfer (Uber also works here)
and from Split to take a ferry to Hvar
https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-hvar-ferry.htm
Or, if you prefer to include more ferries take the ferry from Rijeka to Novalja (Pag)
https://www.croatiaferries.com/rijeka-novalja-ferry.htm
bus from Novalja to Zadar
https://www.travel-file.com/novalja-zadar-buses.htm
bus to Split and proceed to Hvar as aboveSummary:
Basically, there are ferries from Pula via several islands to Zadar and, separately ferries from Rijeka also via some islands all the way to Zadar.
Between Zadar and Split there are no ferries at the present, you have to use a bus, transfer, or Uber.
From Split towards the south, there are several ferry lines connecting Split via islands to Dubrovnik.
AnaParticipantWe arrive in Pula on 3rd June and want to travel down the cost on ferries. We would like to stop at some of these places (doesn’t have to be all of them): Mali Losinj, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik. Can you please advise on the route/ferries to take.
to plan your journey the excellent idea is to use ferry maps here: https://www.croatiaferries.com/maps/
from Pula take a bus or taxi to Labin
https://www.travel-file.com/pula-labin-buses.htm
from labin take taxi to brestova, and get on ferry to porozina:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/brestova-porozina-ferry.htma fast ferry from Pula to Zadar is also a good choice:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/pula-zadar-ferry.htm
or as an alternative, from Pula bus to Rijeka:
https://www.travel-file.com/pula-rijeka-buses.htm
and ferry to Mali Losinj:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/rijeka-malilosinj-ferry.htmfor mali losinj to zadar see schedules and book here:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/malilosinj-zadar-ferry.htmfor zadar to split take a bus
https://www.travel-file.com/zadar-split-buses.htmfor split to dubrovnik see schedules and book here:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-dubrovnik-ferry.htmon the way, you can also stop on other islands if you wish to,

AnaParticipantjust an update here, there is now a new article about how to get to Dubrovnik from Vis island: >> here is a link
in reply to: Booking Car Ferries / Island Hopping Tickets #2517
AnaParticipantpapa, advance tickets are available for online booking for your route.
you can buy all your tickets at the spot in each port or for cars on Jadrolinija’s site.
there is no island hopping option ticket available but we have island hopping maps here
AnaParticipantI'm visiting Croatia in June this year and have family at Vela Luka on Korcula island and would love to visit them but I'm limited for time. I would like to go for the day but if that isn't possible I could go for 1 night but would have to take my campervan. And I'm guessing this will be expensive! I can leave from either Dubrovnik or Split, whichever is easier and less expensive. I'll be in Dubrovnik on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night (21/6 to 24/6) and I could stay the night on Saturday night. Could you please give me some options and costs. I have looked at the timetables but find them very confusing. The campervan size is 599cm in length and 205cm in width.
Split to Vela Luka timing and ferry prices (bottom of the page) is here:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/split-velaluka-ferry.htm
Prices for campervan are there too.The cheaper option is from Dubrovnik =>> drive to Orebic (90 min approx) and get your campervan on ferry (15 min aprox):
https://www.croatiaferries.com/orebic-domince-ferry.htm
From there drive to Vela Luka (40 min aprox)
AnaParticipanthere are some photos of cyclists embarking on foot passenger ferry:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/cyclists-embarking-ferry-in-croatia/
AnaParticipantAs this is an overnight ferry, an accommodation on ferry from Ancona to Split is compulsory so yes, you would need to book in advance..
in reply to: Dubrovnik to Bari Ferry booking for 2024 #2900
AnaParticipantBooking is now opened for Bari to Dubrovnik ferries 2018
First journey starts on 28.03.2018
https://www.croatiaferries.com/bari-dubrovnik-ferry.htmin reply to: Dubrovnik to Bari Ferry booking for 2024 #2898
AnaParticipantWe're thinking of going to Polace in May – do you know if this is a stop on the Dubrovnik to Bari ferry and I can see a last June timetable but just wanted to check the ferries run all year. Any thoughts gratefully received,
Polace is small village on Mljet Island . To reach it you can travel by ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik and change ferry there for Mljet. So yes, you can travel by Bari to Dubrovnik ferry to reach Polace. Once in Dubrovnik, take any ferry from Dubrovnik to any port on Mljet island and then take bus to Polace.
See all ferries to Mljet island here :
https://www.croatiaferries.com/mljet-island-ferries.htmthis map can be helpful:
https://www.croatiaferries.com/maps/split-dubrovnik-islands-ferry-map/Yes, ferries to Mljet run all year around.
AnaParticipant-Is there only one ferry town/port on Korcula? We will be coming in from Hvar and want to keep it easy by booking accomodation near the ferry. I did look on the map and it seems there is a port at Vela Lake from Hvar, but also one on the far end of the island that goes direct to Dubrovnik which will be our next stop from Korcula.
-Are there crossings every day from all these destinations? I thought I saw Hvar from Korcula only happened on Saturdays and Tuesdays but then also read the foot passenger catamaran goes everyday. We dont have a vehicle, so a foot passenger catamaran is fine.
-Lastly, can I book all of these crossings online ahead of time or will there be any leg of this crossing that will need to purchased day of?
Vela Luka is 50 km away from Korcula Town, so you should book Korcula town port ferries, not Vela Luka ones.
Yes, there are daily crossings.

AnaParticipantI was trying to book a ferry ride from Dubrovnik to Bari but was unable to.
Are these ferries no longer running?
The web site says that there are no further sailings.Hi Shawn, I just talked to the ferry company and they reassured me that ferries from Dubrovnik to Bari will indeed run. They intend to publish a timetable and enable booking for this year in the next couple of weeks.
